MPs are up in arms over the new management of the Travel Office. At the beginning of September, American Express lost the contract to provide this service to Carlson Wagonlit Travel. Sadly this has meant the loss of the popular Enzo - an employee of American Express.
Although CWT’s glossy brochure insists, “In most ways the service will remain the same”, one crucial service - that of currency exchange - has been degraded to the extent that it now only occurs by advance order. MPs can no longer turn up at short notice and acquire major currencies.
Fees Office sources expressed concerns over the justification of providing this banking service when Members and Staff were regularly using it for personal travel arrangements. I suppose under this justification, the Flower Shop and the Hairdresser will be next to go.
