Lobby journalists are incensed that the Labour Party Press Office has located the official Press Hotel in Gatwick.
This doesn’t help make for happy hacks and positive headlines; but it does mean that if the press corps is to get back to their hotel, 44.3km away, the journalists will not be staying up late in the conference hotel witnessing the great and good strutting their stuff after a few shandies.
Recess Monkey was in the hotel bar late one night at last year’s conference with a couple of colleagues and the eminent political commentators, Andrew Rawnsley and Richard Littlejohn; a memorable dialogue ensued…
