One of the most exclusive events so far has been the News International reception in the presidential suite at the Grand Hotel. It was at this soirée that Chris Bryant was told in unambiguous terms that it was not necessarily wise to be attacking Rupert Murdoch personally in the media.
Bryant’s advice came from Rebecca Wade, who is kind of in a position to know. Later, Chris was bemoaning to anyone who would listen that he’ll never get any coverage ever again on Sky.
With these diplomatic skills, maybe Bryant won’t find himself doing a stint at the FCO.
