One London MP at risk of losing his seat has a renewed confidence after receiving a blessing from the pope just a week before his departure for the next world. The MP gushed, “A blessing from the Pope is known as a ‘plenary indulgence’ and means that all past sins are forgiven”. When asked if he has sinned since then, there was a moment of silence. “… er, I might have had a drink or two – is drinking a sin?”. Recess Monkey rather hopes it isn’t.

That puts me in mind of a former midlands MP who sent John Kerry a good luck card… as far as I know, he has yet to receive one in return.
