Some readers may have noticed a slight antipathy from these pages towards Wantage Tory hopeful Ed Vaizey.
A recent post highlights a campaign by Labour contender Mark MacDonald to have one of Vaizey’s immigration posters taken down.
Most surprisingly, it seems that the Tories have done so. Although this is a fantastic coup for the Labour candidate, it does present a difficulty for Michael Howard.
Ed Vaizey just happens to be Howard’s speechwriter. Does Vaizey’s U-turn extend to refusing to write speeches on immigration for Howard? Will Howard sack Vaizey for going against party policy in the constituency?
Probably not methinks.
