There is every possibility that we are witnessing the creation of a new utopia on earth. Our local, the Red Lion in Whitehall, has applied for a late license - and - permission to hold karaoke events.
No more will we have to make the long trek to the feathers at St James’ Park. No longer will we have to beg Yvette and Kirsten to organise events in the sports and social club.
Recess Monkey is already in high level discussions with the Red Lion’s landlady over his 30th birthday party in January. Even writing this, I am getting so emotional that I feel a tear welling in my eye.
However, there is a cloud on the horizon. The police are opposing this license application on the grounds of national security!
Only you can make a difference. The woman pictured, Dame Councillor Audrey Lewis, is Westminster City Council’s Cabinet Member for Licensing. Please contact her here expressing your support for karaoke and late drinking. Also contact the Licensing Office here to do the same.
For the love of karaoke and late drinking, make your stand now.

Are you absolutely sure that picture is indeed the female Westminster councillor and not Recess Monkey in drag? It looks awfully masculine to me
I will indeed write to said Councillor though, as anything that improves the drinking culture in these parts is most welcome.

National Security?
What did the police say exactly? Its not like a real national security issue e.g. which beach Tony is sunning himself on…

National security, or risk to Tony and Cherie’s ears? With the PA turned up to 11, it could be audible at number 10….

She looks like she’s being taking a lesson from Dame Shirley Porter on how to present herself.

what about the fact that people who endure the mundanity of the Red Lion cannot stand in the road, never mind sing Elvis songs badly
