
A notable line in a Times piece this morning scribbled by Alastair Campbell, “He has been Chancellor but the gulf between what is required for that position and the top job is enormous”.
Of course he was referring to Ken Clarke, not Gordon Brown. Wasn’t he? Of course he was. Surely…
One thing is for sure, if Alastair Campbell ever makes a statement that is ambiguous, that ambiguity is deliberate.
