CFUK (Conservative Future UK) is heading for one of the most bruising leadership battles in recent years and is likely to cause more ripples in the political pond than the long-running saga over who will replace someone called Michael Howard who used to be in politics once.
Nominations have been received for:
Chris Kelly has followed the Abercorn Doctrine in his campaign and has concentrated on getting as many photos as possible.
There’s also some argument as to how many of the candidates are claiming endorsement from Boris Johnson. A spokesperson for Boris said, “knowing Boris he would want to encourage them all”.
There’s now only just over a week to go until the winner is chosen. Anyone who would like to comment on this election and the candidates, please get in touch. Who will CFUK go for? A candidate with the looks of Rooney or the integrity of Grobelaar?
Recess Monkey will be returning to Blackpool for Tory Conference to cover the election. Candidates’ press officers should email me their mobile numbers.
Gosh! If I get any more excited I’ll need a kleenex!

Interesting to see the selection of well-known Conservatives backing young Mr Kelly lurking at the end of his photo gallery. Who needs Boris when you’ve got Gordon Brown and Ed Balls? Perhaps he needs to take a few lessons from Abercorn in party exclusivity?

Does it count as an endorsement photo if you were actually the waiter at the event (as appears certainly the case with some of Kelly’s silly photos).

You have to vote Abercorn, if only to save the world from yet another weedy white tory politician. They need a bit of diversity…

Looks like Nick Vaughan won. What a loss to the world.
