The Minister not widely liked

Methuen is soon to publish a book called, “The Rebels”, which charts the careers of MPs who voted against their party whips over the course of the last two parliaments.

While is sounds quite a dry tome, Recess Monkey hears the language is somewhat foul and the book contains 15 fucks, 5 bastards, 2 bullshits, 2 wankers, 2 buggers, 2 bloodys, 2 arses, and a twat. Thought it seems to me a book about parliamentarians that contains only one twat is being exceedingly charitable.

Not widely liked

There is an interesting passage about the Mental Capacity Bill where a Government whip describes the rebels’motives as “90 per cent Catholic Mafia; 10 per cent “David Lammy is not widely liked””

Which is strange as Recess Monkey first heard that tale recouted as, “90 per cent Catholic Mafia; 10 per cent “David Lammy is a cunt””, which makes me think that Methuen may have edited to save readers’ blushes.

Funnily enough, when told this story, the average MP’s response is, “Only 10%?”

  1. I once saw the author of this kick a now-Conservative researcher out of a tutorial, whose presentation on the House of Commons as a forum for debate featured Ally McBeal as it’s sole example…

  2. Its, not it’s. Didn’t we teach you anything at Hull!?
