Backbencher discovers cause of NHS funding black hole

St. George’s Hospital, Tooting

23. Martin Linton: “To ask the Secretary of State for Health what the change has been in the funding of St. George’s Hospital, Tooting since 1997″. [20928]

Jane Kennedy: “Audited accounts of the St. George’s Healthcare NHS Trust 1997-98 to 2004-05 show that income at the trust has risen by £130.4 million from £173.1 million in 1997-98 to £333.5 million in 2004-05″.

Recess Monkey readers in the Audit Commission will be aware that £173.1m plus £130.4m usually adds up to £303.5m and will no doubt be knocking on Jane Kennedy’s door asking her where she put the remaining £30m.

For those who don’t know Jane Kennedy (which is most people), she was elected to parliament in 1992 and no-one has heard of her since. She is best known for telling the world that Liverpool has a third world economy and third world politics.
