Lowest form of wit

Ming

According to the BBC, Ming Campbell fully supports Charles Kennedy’s LibDem leadership. Ming said, “As long as Charles Kennedy remains leader of the Liberal Democrats he has my full support”.

Doesn’t that take faint praise to its greatest extreme? There is a point at which faint praise becomes simple sarcasm, widely regarded to be the lowest form of wit.

This, I would dispute. Anagram is surely the lowest form of wit - sarcasm can be quite funny from time to time. I should be grateful for your thoughts on this matter.

  1. Ming Campbell = Glen MacBlimp

I hope this is low enough for you :)

  2. He’s a sickening overachiever, as well as behaving like Brutus for a fortnight.

The youth of this country will not vote for someone called Ming.

  3. More sinisterly is that…

    Menzies Campbell MP OBE =
    Belle MP becomes Nazi PM

Perhaps a hidden truth to the Liberal Democrat’s real policies should they get into power…

(Ok I know Ming the Merciless is a CBE not an OBE, but it wouldn’t work without the O instead of C)

  4. I believe the lowest form of wit is actually Jim Davidson………….
