At a recent schmoozefest, a DeHavilland staffer tried to pump Recess Monkey as to which of their clients had been leaking their errors.
I resisted both the bribes and threats and protected the identity of my source. This has earned me a new source, who writes to me today…
“I know you have a personal interest in the cock-ups of DeHavilland, so here’s Ed Miliband as the incumbent of Dudley North. Being a daughter of the Black Country, I’d like a personal apology from DeHavilland for confusing us with such a Godless place as Doncaster.”

Brother of Government Minister David, Ed Miliband previously acted as Chairman of the Council of Economic Affairs and was a special adviser to Gordon Brown at the Treasury. Seen as a strong supporter of the Chancellor, he was selected for the safe seat of Dudley North, inheriting it from Kevin Hughes. Ed’s father, Ralph Miliband was a prominent Marxist philosopher, but both his sons are seen as key members of New Labour.
And isn’t it the Council of Economic Advisers rather than Affairs?
