Yellow Baboon was at Harrogate for the conference, and must say that his speech was better than expected, but still struggling perhaps to beat the performances of Kennedy (even his famous sweaty one). There was a long period of minutes in the middle where he got no crowd response at all, as the audience collectively tuned out from boredom.
It’s worth watching the speech online or on news coverage just for the weird composition used at the end - add a bit of horn fanfare and it could be mistaken as coronation music…

Where did you get that Ming photo from? It is quite dashing and makes him look, oh… 60. I watched bits of the speech, you were right - it would have put a glass eye to sleep.

Apparently, the music was something the HIC already had rights to because they didn’t have time to negotiate rights over anything else.
This meant a limited list of music, and apparently this was the least bad.

Rather than being bored by the bit in the middle, I was sick of clapping and welcomed a section without a clap-line every sentence.
