Grrrrrr-ayling on the scent

Chris Grayling

Chris Grayling, MP for Epson & Ewell and all-round Conservative attack dog has the scent of blood again. In light of the Capita connection to the sleaze stories, he’s asked questions to every Government Department about how much business the Department has conducted with Capita Group (and subsidiaries) over the last five years, how many tenders Capita have been invited into and how many of Capita’s staff they’ve seconded.

But why has it taken him so long to cotton on to this? Private Eye has been charting the “progress” of Crapita across Government for years, from one dismal failure to the next. Anyway, he’s barking up the wrong tree - Guido knows that the questions that need to be asked cannot be answered by Departmental officials…

In a former life, Red Tamarin had the opportunity to evaluate a tender from Crapita when working at a Government agency. He delighted in being able to honestly award it some of the lowest scores possible, and have it thrown out at the first stage. Ahhh, happy times…
