Don’t Mention The War

Bang up to date with twentieth century politics

An intriguing Parliamentary Question appeared from Lib Dem Norman Baker this morning.

Norman Baker (Lewes): To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, how much is owed to the UK in reparations following the Second World War, broken down by debtor country. (62275)

Red Tamarin is hoping that England fans can go to Germany this summer singing “Ten mil! You only owe us ten mil, you only owe us ten mil” and “Ten-mil, to the England”

  1. An excellent question there by the esteemed member from Lewes. I’ve heard he’ll next ask if we had all of our muskets back after the American War of Independence

  2. Interesting that the American War of Independence would be known today as the British Civil War if we had won and the American Civil War would be known today as the War of Independence today had the Confederacy won.

    …well interesting to me anyway.

  3. What interests me is what people will think when they look back at this period of government and world politics that we’re going through now.

Whether it’ll be seen as a struggle of the people against a centralised police state, or maybe NewLab will have successfully constructed the fable of their brave fight against the fox-hunting demon army.

    All very Animal Farm
