Spies at the National Union of Students inform me that they have just elected Gemma Tumelty as their new President at the annual NUS conference/shagfest in Blackpool. I can only presume that she got in thanks to that all important chav vote.
Her election marks the passing of current President, Kat Fletcher, who will be fondly remembered for making Sarah Teather look articulate when they both appeared on BBC Question Time.
It all makes me pine for the days of the charming Mandy Telford and her equally charming pink coat.

why is this person a chav? Or should only silly posh people go to university?

Her mobile number is still on the web for anyone who wants to ring her and say well done.

Watch out for David Icke though.

She may not be a chav, but does look like one. But there’s nowt wrong with that: I myself own a couple of Lady Sovereign records and a pair of white trainers.
I’m more pleased that Kat Fletcher is going. She’s the worst thing to come out of Leeds University since Harold Shipman.

Kerron, if you start txt stalking her I will disavow any knowledge of you.
May I add at this point that I’m quite disappointed that, as usual, whenever an attractive woman achieves anything, she is instantly caricatured on the basis of her looks.
You know damn straight that you would all be a sweet as pie to her if you met her, so why not just be nice.

I never thought that the NUS would ever elect a fit bird as president. Don’t they usually elect complete rotters?

A colleague has just informed that he was shocked to see the NUS elect Jo Guest as their next President…
Well done to her I say (Gemma not Jo). Just hope she doesn’t turn out like Charles Clarke in the long run, as so many past Presidents have….

Er…may I remind you of this post:

I wasn’t trying to be sexist here. I just said she was good looking.
Good looking, gifted and intelligent it would seem.
At this point it’s worth saying to Gem that my phone number is still on the internet too - so I utterly discourage people making any nuisance calls!
[Gem the new NUS President, not Gem my girlfriend. Obviously. :-/]

Kerron, I also got implicated in the sexism mire that erupted from that post, so I’ll keep out of this one, simply say Yowza!, and be on my way…
