Tory A Lister Laetita Gunn (pictured above) represents the it-girl wing of Opus Dave. She is the daughter of europhobe Bill Cash - hang on a minute - I’m not sure the word “europhobe” fully conveys the full, frienzied, foaming at mouth extent of his antipathy towards the European project.
Anyway, Laetitia Cash is one of Dave’s leading lights and as an A Lister, is almost certainly guaranteed a safe seat at the next General Election, and one of the few PPCs to have been on Tatler’s “most invited” list.
Most amusing about Ms Gunn/Cash’s political history is her rejection by Wyre Forest Conservative Association for their 2005 candidacy. Rather that concentrating on their successful candidate, Tory Councillor Stephen Clee was quoted on the front page of the Local paper under the headline “Conservatives reject ‘Tory babe” as saying “Laetitia Cash came to interview, but the association felt she was not at the standard we wanted. We had far better candidates and we selected the bestâ€. He added “She did not have the ability to reach the levels we needed for appointing a prospective parliamentary candidateâ€.
However, the true extent of Laetitia’s social conscience is illustrated here in a blog entry from 2003.
Incidentally, the 2005 candidate, who was judged superior to Ms Gunn by Wyre Forest Conservative Association, was a Mr Mark Garnier. He is not on the Tory A List.

Mark Garnier is only not on the A List because he has already been reselected as Wyre Forest PPC for the next General Election and therefore does not need to be included. The 20 or so others already selected aren’t on either.

How weird. I left a very similar comment about her on ConservativeHome’s goldlist blog a while back and it got censored. I was told that they didn’t want to give Recess Monkey too much ammunition - Go figure. Are you a regular Tatler reader or what?
