Haw today, gone tomorrow

Two weeks ago, anti-war protester Brian Haw lost the right to continue campaigning in Parliament Square.

At 9:15am, under the watchful eyes of 4 policemen, he is packing up his placards and going home.

Whether you approved or not of his activities, the dedication of five long years of sitting on a busy roundabout and shouting at anyone who would listen is impressive. Considering that troops are due to start leaving in July, his point has probably been made.

  1. Far better that he made his point in this country rather than doing a “Kember”, it’s a shame that his protest has to become another victim of this government’s “control” attitude.
    When does the revolution begin?

  2. You make it sound like the decision was almost voluntary, when in fact police had already seized most of his belongings in the dead of the night - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/5007214.stm (when he still has a right of appeal to the House of Lords)

  3. I meet him ..he’s a git.

  4. Why don’t you do a poll on wheter people think Haw is a) a prick in the conscience or b) a pain in the a*** instead of selling your soul to Yougov (see current poll)?

  5. I was out on Parliament Square around 9:30 this morning, and to my eyes, the placards were being removed and the police were doing nothing more than standing by and watching. There was no opposition visible to this taking place.

I would point out that the BBC News story was posted at 3pm this afternoon - mine was posted at 10am this morning. I can’t be responsible for things changing in the interim :)

  6. I vote:pain in the ass.
