Among 81 Parliamentary Questions tabled by Eric Pickles this morning (an impressive performance, but one that makes you wonder what he does with his time) we have another classic:
Mr Eric Pickles (Brentwood & Ongar): To ask the Prime Minister, what the dimensions are of the garden at 10 Downing Street. (78264)
How is it important to know this information, could he not find it out somewhere else (such as Google maps), and is it really worth knowing given that the average written question costs £134 a time?

To try to get a story going about the use of a 'bowser' in the garden to Number 10 at a time of hosepipe bans, have you not been keeping up with the Horticultural reports out of No 10?

He is probably worried that Prescott wants to turn it into houses as part of his policy of concreting over gardens, under the auspices of brownfield land development.
