Hugo Rifkind has the inside leak on a Tory ploy to take advantage of tonight’s England/Sweden World Cup match. Evidently, in the full knowledge that Gordon is attending the game, David Cameron has arranged to go too - but will be in the stands to be compared favourably with Gordon in a box. You can hear the Tories chuckling about their ruse already.
However, there is every possibility that England fans might be a bit too busy watching the match to take part in David Cameron’s “Man O The People” political stunt.

ITV didn’t go to either of them during the match.

Certainly no one in Parliament saw either Dave or Gordon on screen during the match (see subsequent post). A wasted effort on both their parts

I thought FIFA weren’t allowing “ambush” stunts!

what makes me laugh is one of Brown’s aides says with disgust that Cameron got his ticket from his “corporate friends” and is “seeking to make political capital out of a football match which should be bringing the country together.”
Where did Gordon get his ticket from then?
And what business does a Chancellor/hopeful PM have going to the England/Sweden match and inviting a Daily Mail reporter and photographer into his home to watch the Trinidad & Tobago game with him if not for political capital? Has he ever gone to an England game before?
I wouldve respected Cameron & Brown more if they had watched at home or in a pub like everyone else! Tossers the pair of ‘em.
