Red Tamarin has a friend who works for an advertising analysis firm (poor sucker) that collects vast amounts of information on every type of advertising imaginable - from billboards and magazines to direct mail, tv and radio ads - and who pays for it. He’s kindly knocked up a quick graph comparing advertising spending of Labour and the Tories for the first five months of 2005.
The qualifier for this graph is that it shows only the spending of the national party organisations in placing their advertisements - not what they cost to develop, nor what regional or local parties paid for. Beyond that, the graph speaks for itself - the Tories spending over £3.6m in one month alone.
Red Tamarin expects Guido to tell him that Labour were loaned their advertising space
