Every MP’s office was due to have a new batch of computers and printers following the general election, but a year on and the ‘Members’ Refresh Project’ (as it is grandly called by PICT) is still ongoing, with many MPs and their staff continuing to use ancient kit that struggles with the demands of modern office life.
Red Tamarin has found out that the reason for the delays has been due to a number of MPs failing to pay for additional kit they ‘purchased’ from Dell last November. As a result, Dell placed Parliament on credit hold, and refused to ship any more equipment. Parliament, apparently, cannot be trusted to pay up!
Red Tamarin already has his shiny new computers already and is very happy. For those who are still waiting, blame the tight-fisted MPs!
