White powder again responsible for evacuation?

White powder has once again been the subject of much upheavel in the Commons today, though not this time because of a protester or Leader of the Opposition.

Portcullis House was evacuated at lunchtime and afterwards a barely audible tannoy announcement seemed to pin the blame on the debate cafeteria kitchen (the usual suspects). But this explanation has been challenged by a rumour from the Tea Room that Dartford MP Dr Howard Stoate was being rather too liberal in his usage of talcum powder in the bathroom, and that was sufficient to set off the alarms.

  1. I heard yesterday was because of the cafeteria (again) - no idea about this morning’s evacuation though.

Are we going to have one-a-day now up until the Summer recess?

Alternatively does anyone know the whereabouts of Howard Stoate this morning?

  2. No idea about this morning’s evacuation, but when I got back from lunch the atrium in Portcullis House was really smokey…only about 2 hours after the fire alarm had gone off though…
