John McDonnell MP, member of the left wing “Campaign Group” of Labour MPs, is rumoured to be announcing his bid for leadership of the Labour Party at this Saturday’s Durham Miners’ Gala.
A spokesperson for McDonnell was very coy when approached by Recess Monkey on the subject. He said, “John hasn’t decided what to say in Durham, he hasn’t written his speech yet”.
Cheerleaders of fellow Campaign Group MP Michael Meacher will be very annoyed if McDonnell steals a march on their man.
