SNP MP Angus MacNeil is making a name for himself as the whiter-than-white nemesis of Tony Blair and Lord Levy over the Cash for Peerages affair, appearing in countless television appearances to say things like, “If I was a betting man I’d put a tenner on Blair being in prison by Christmas” (paraphrased). However, a little investigation shows that this potato farmer’s hands aren’t so clean.
A source tells Recess Monkey that MacNeil sends potatoes from his smallholding to various friends using his parliamentary postage privilege, a clear abuse of taxpayers’ money. Furthermore, when on holiday last year, he even posted a pair of shoes to the office - a clear indication of his real attitude towards probity in public life. I’m sure MacNeil will make an apology in the House and pay back the money. Yeah, right.
Sadly, my source declines to be named unless I get taken to court - but I hear there’s more SNP shenanigans and impropriety to be uncovered. Who is the John Prescott of the SNP? I’ll let you know as soon as I have checked my legal position.

Uhm, all emerging now? My suspicious mind makes me think it’s Labour attacking back (and trying to get a revenge).

Ah and never try to disclose other sleazyness when you’ve something to hide. Will MPs ever learn?

Come on Monkey, MacNeil is a nice guy. As you remember, Wishart is a different kettle of fish! If he posted shoes to himself are you insinuating he took pre-paid envelopes on holiday with him?

As the times says in its diary section, this is a pathetically minor complaint. Posting potatoes, or selling peerages? I think I know which party is corrupt.

Sedge, which are the financial dodges that are OK and which are not? I agree it’s a matter of scale - but you have to admit that posting potatoes is a much funnier corruption than boring old peerage sales

Oh go on. Stop teasing. Give us a hint.

This started as a joke by some SNP members to see how far it went - some people will believe anything.

Is there any truth to the rumours sweeping Portcullis House that nationalist MP Mike Weir rents out his office as a bordillo?
