12. Mr Greg Hands (Hammersmith & Fulham): To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, what estimate the Office of National Statistics has made of the number of deaths from accidents in graveyards or cemeteries in each of the last three years.
…or, “How many bodies have been found in graveyards?”
So will Jack Straw be sending Greg Hands’ assistant, blogger, Conservative Future Exec Member, Candidate for CFUK Chair and former belle of the incumbent Caroline Hunt a stern written reprimand or has Hands been overwhelmed with cemetery-related death casework in recent months, stimulating him to write such a question?
However Parliamentary timewaster of the year award must go to Andrew Rosindell, Author of these EDMs on:
Hainault Forest Country Park Centenary
Gibraltar National Day
and…
Winnie-the-Pooh 80th Anniversary
In this parliamentary session, Rosser has tabled 61 EDMs, 22 of which were anniversaries of some description.
Animals were another of Rosser’s favourite subjects, with 16 EDMs (Of which 4 were about Dogs and 2 were about Rupert the Bear).
However, the Romford MP’s hectic EDM schedule didn’t leave time for public services, which only manage a paltry 6 EDMS, compared to 21 on foreigners. He did manage to table 5 EDMs about Romford.

Sounds to me as if Mr Rosindell is very accurately representing his constituents and their concerns, as opposed to those of his party bosses. Shame that so few Labour MP’s bother to do that any more due to their being obsessed with the brown nosing required to succeed in climbing that greasy pole.

There may be a point to Mr Hand’s question - you might remember the fuss last year when a council (Wirral) decided that a large number of headstones were unsafe, and it’s not just Wirral who’ve done it.
From a special report by the Local Government Ombudsman:
The Chair of the HSC reported in June 2004 that their figures revealed three deaths and 18 other serious accidents to members of the public from unstable memorials in the preceding five years
