Blowing his own Trumpet

Armando Iannucci’s new show Time Trumpet started on Thursday on BBC2 - the first episode was a satirical look back at the year 2007 from 2031. It was a bit patchy, though I’m told the later shows in the series are better.

This fantastic clip was by far and away the best moment of the show. It starts with Cameron pretending to engage with some shopworkers in Asda (whilst also trying to look patriotic by wearing an England wrist-band), and then does a great comparison of the language used by both Tony and David in their speeches.

And you’ve got to love the wisened Alastair Campbell at the end…

You may have to crank your speakers right up to hear the sound on this, but it’s well worth it.

  1. The guy with the white overall and hat sitting on Cameroon’s right reminds me of that taxi driver interviewed by the BBC on some technicacl/legal issue…
