The electoral commission has published the last quarter’s political loans and donations - loans reporting being a new, voluntary aspect of the report.
In the second quarter of 2006, the parties received the following donations;
Conservatives £5,882,374.01
Labour £3,403,819.50
Liberal £782,780.87
The reported loans however, make for interesting reading
Conservative £2,812,000.00
Labour £28,200,693.85
Liberal £584,239.08

From the electoral commission website :
“We have also called for parties to declare details of the loans they receive on a voluntary basis and the parties have chosen to do this in different ways.
The Conservative Party have only reported loans received in the current reporting quarter (April - June 2006), whereas Labour and the Liberal Democrats have included loans previously received.

£28m in loans but no wrongdoing of any kind whatsoever of course.
