JOB PURPOSE
To find, research and develop stories, to prepare briefs for presenter interviews and to contribute fully to the programme’s journalistic content.

THE POLITICS SHOW
The Politics Show is an integrated politics hour with 40 minutes of network programme and 20 minutes from the English Regions, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

KEY TASKS
To prepare briefs for interviews
To contribute fully to the journalistic content of the programme by identifying strong political stories and helping develop them for broadcast

To contribute to the forward planning of the programme
To develop and maintain good political contacts

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
First rate knowledge of politics and good analytical skills
Experience of working in politics, in a professional or voluntary capacity
Good political judgement
Capacity to think creatively to turn politics into watchable television and online content
Resilience, flexibility and ability to work to tight deadlines and within budget
Knowledge of relevant editorial guidelines
