A friend of mine was catching a cab the other day when he saw naturalist David Bellamy was behind him - and so he offered to share the cab. As Bellamy was going in the same direction, he gratefully accepted and so my friend had an opportunity to chat with the environmental icon of the 80s.
First he asked if he could take a picture with his phonecam - I have seen the picture but couldn’t get the guy’s phone to talk to mine - so we can’t publish it.
Then my mate said to Bellamy, “Why don’t we see you on TV anymore?”. To which he replied, “You can’t work for the BBC if you’ve called Tony Blair a cunt!”
Obviously it was pre-Hutton when the BBC and Bellamy parted company. These day’s such comments are encouraged.

Bellamy used to go to my senior school. He was the only semi-famous person we had and was routinely called in to open new buildings or facilities etc. However, when he revealed that in his younger days he smoked cannibis and took acid he was promtly removed from the invite list of any future school events. To add insult to injury, the school then concreted over the ecology patch named after him and built a brand new army cadet hut on the site. Not just Blair that’s a cunt then!

David bellamy is an ecologist, yes. He may not be an environmentalist, though (depending on your take on wind farms).

this is on Conservative Home about you favourite Labour defector:
“Rehman Chishti, who fought the 2005 election as Labour’s candidate against Tory party chairman Francis Maude, moved over to the Conservatives amid a fanfare of publicity last March and in the same month attended a Parliamentary Assessment Board. Party sources said a panel, including Mr Cameron’s parliamentary private secretary, Desmond Swayne, failed him. Under rules which have applied to countless long-standing Tory hopefuls, Mr Chishti should have been made to wait at least 12 months before being allowed a resit – but one was organised for him just weeks later. He passed the second assessment and his name was placed on the list over the summer. The revelation was met with alarm last night. One angry A-list candidate, who asked not to be named, said: “Things like that completely undermine the A-list and turn it into even more of a joke than it’s already perceived. “How can it have any credibility when they bend the rules like that?” Mr Davies said: “I don’t see why people who have worked for the Conservative Party for years should be pushed to one side to make way for somebody who has been working against the party for years. Everybody should be treated equally.”
You’ve probably already reported it but it currently is p!ssing off his new party colleagues
