Chishti in the Dragon’s Den

Chishti no mates

Before I begin this piece, I should warn Tory HQ that wherever Rehman Chishti is selected to be the Tory Candidate, I may very well be inclined to seek the Labour candidacy at the next general election. Regular readers will be asked for their support should the need arise.

But anyway - this morning, as a B-List prospective Tory Candidate and Interracial Adviser to Porn Baron Francis Maude, Rehman suffered the scrutiny of Ann Widecombe, Oliver Letwin and Michael Brown as he pitched to them his idea to make Britain a nation of which we can all be proud - Mandatory imprisonment for 3rd time drink drivers.

While I have some sympathy for his position, he was evidently far too lenient with 1st and second time drink drivers - insisting the focus should be on rehabilitation (as long as they haven’t killed anyone yet).

I can’t help drawing parallels with Chishti’s political career. Is he suggesting his candidacies for Labour and the Tories are in fact forgiveable abberations and that he will eventually seek a third candidacy for the LibDems?

In any case, a grand total of 11% of the Dragon’s Den audience were moved to support Rehman’s proposal - and it is though that that was largely on the basis of pity.

I do wonder which Conservative Association will select Rehman on the same basis.

  1. why are you so obsessed with this guy? who cares about him apart from you?

  2. I do. He is a traitor who wasn’t talented or sincere enough to get anywhere in the Labour Party, so jumped ship after being wooed by his opponent in the general election. maybe he’ll get found out by the Tories too, but then again, their standards are somewhat lower.

RM, I’ll come and campaign for you.

  3. We all like to hear what the traitor’s up to these days.

Think we slightly beat you to this story though, Monkey. ;-)

  4. Having had the misfortune of being at university, and by definition the same university Labour Club as Mr Chishti and can honestly say I was never surprised he scurried off to the Tories. I remember with slight alarm at the time him admitting that he didn’t know whether to join the Tories or Labour, but Labour looked better for his career. No doubt he has truly ended up where he rightfully belongs; with a load of self serving idiots who have no ones interests in mind other than their own. My only worry is that no one spotted he was a Tory in the first place and I’m ashamed he ever got past the Parliamentary selection process.
