Dear Colleague
Please note that at the AGM held on Wednesday 11.10.06 I was replaced as chairman by Mr Bob LAXTON MP, the member nominated as leader for the forthcoming visit to Istanbul in November.
This change of office was unanticipated so it is with some regret that I must redirect all queries regarding the group or its programme to the new chairman.
However I can report that after extensive consultation throughout the membership arrangements for the November visit have been firmed up so all that remains for me to do is to wish the five members embarking on the trip to have an enjoyable and informative excursion.
I shall make strenuous efforts to ensure that all files and financial records are transferred expeditiously to the office of Mr Laxton but as I have JUST been discharged from hospital following fairly extensive surgery this feat may take a couple of days.
I thank all of you for your support and assistance, your encouragement and cooperation in the past and offer you every good wish for your efforts regarding promotion of Turkish welfare in the future.

It is just possible that Bob’s election to the Chair of this body is not unrelated to the fact that his opponent’s nickname is “Frank Cock”. Without wanting to rehash old Recess Monkey stories, Cook’s the man who once berated an intern in the lift for wearing jeans and a T-shirt. “I know it’s a Friday, but shouldn’t you be in your suit?”, he barked at the intern. “Yeah, it’s a Friday, shouldn’t you be in your constituency”, was the young man’s response.
