One careful owner

How much will you give me for my appendix?

I was very interested to read this piece in The Times all about the £1bn black market in stolen body parts.

The Times suggests a healthy corpse (if you see what i mean) could be worth up to $1/4m when sold off in bits. Instead of having a black market in bits, why don’t we make it legal for people to sell their own bodies after death and so provide an inheritance for their kids. furthermore this would have a deflationary effect on the bodyparts market, making part thefts less lucrative and therefore less likely. From the Treasury’s perspective, you would have a whole new industry to tax and massively increase the inheritance tax revenue. Not to mention all the people in the country who are waiting for bits to be implanted/transplanted so they can lead healthier lives.

I feel an EDM coming on if anyone wants to table it…

  1. If it’s made a legal, can I become a Ladrone?… I also happen to live in the country..Bugger this healthy living stuff, life’s too short to be thin.

  2. Your speaking common sense! Although can you imagine the cost of the NHS going through the roof if they are forced to buy organs if nobody bothered to donate anymore?

  3. “Junk body parts…penney a go..get em while thear hot”.

  4. Sometimes I can’t decide if you’re being faux naive or naive, ironical or moronical.

If the latter, may I suggest you have just the teensiest think about what you’re saying before you open your cake hole?
