MPs have been offered a free-trial of a new commercial service that tracks mentions of their names in the media and then emails them a roundup of what has been said about them - like an automated LexisNexis/Factiva. Sounds like it risks doing us researchers out of a job…
At least one Minister is known to have signed up so far. Don’t they have a press office to do this for them?
Far more amusingly, I am told the company providing the service can track which stories are read by their users, and a well-known Lib Dem has been spotted reading through lots of the negative stories about him. Somewhat masochistic behaviour if you ask me…

Theycould get all mentions from a good Press Cuttings agency AND put it down on Parli expenses so WE are actually paying it. Strewth… PS:star want it done on the cheap - give me a call.

The difference between this and a Google News Alert is what? Other than the cost, of course?

I was going to ask that one, Tim. Google news alerts people!
