The Guardian’s Hugh Muir has a go today at Romford Tory MP Andrew Rosindell over his support for silly EDMs. While I can’t imagine from where he might have acquired that story, it is a little unfair to have attacked Rozzer for his poor attendance and speaking record this year. Has Muir perhaps forgotten to take into account Rosindell’s near-death, emergency stomach surgery and extended convalescence?
On the other hand, the MP, who bears a striking resemblance to disgraced peer Jeffrey Archer, did manage to claim £7,698 in travel expenses. I’m not sure how this happened, not only because he was ill - but also because his constituency is in London and all MPs are given a free annual London travelcard.
If you’re reading this Andrew, please let us know about the travel expenses?
Incidentally, another favoured cause of Rosindell is EDM 2843, which welcomes the Island of Sark’s baby steps in democracy having voted, in a public referendum, ‘to replace the feudal system that has existed for over 450 years with democratic elections and reform’.
Backer Andrew Rosindell MP, who once asked for financial aid to those disadvantaged by the hunting bill, is relieved that the Queen will still be unequivocal sovereign and head of state.
But what about the Beaumonts? Will they be compensated for the loss of their peasants?

I am starting to really hate that theyworkforyou site, some journalists can’t seem to look beyond the end of its nose! (I don’t defend him, It just seems to be the first and only port of call for a lot of them when looking at MPs)

Rozzer’s expenses were in the local Havering press. They included claims to help rent a flat close to Parliament. What is a London MP doing with a central London flat? I don’t think his colleagues from Upminster of Hornchurch feel the need for a bed so close to Parliament.
