Tory MP John Hayes has some questions for the Prime Minister today.
-
To ask the Prime Minister, how many peerage nomination forms members of his Government have (a) been involved in completing and (b) signed. (107120)
To ask the Prime Minister, whether any nomination forms for peerages which were brought to his attention were accompanied by covering material indicating Labour Party funding links. (107121)
To ask the Prime Minister, whether he has acted as a character witness for any nominations for peerages. (107122)
To ask the Prime Minister, whether he has signed any nomination forms for peerages. (107123)
In return, I have some questions for John Hayes:
-
Do you think that individual MPs should be trying to run their own investigations into this matter, given that the cross-party Public Administration Committee has promised to wait for the police investigation to finish?
Do you really think Tony would ever say anything incriminating in the written answer?
Is your surname Yates?
If the answer to any of these questions is yes, you are immensely foolish.

God forbid an opposition MP would try and scrutinise the government on a major issue like this. Let’s leave it up to knacker of the yard and the rest of Tony’s mates becaue clearly they will uncover every stone and make a clean breast of it.
Is this just because Guido said you never mention the war?

Actually I spotted these questions in the Order Paper before I read Guido this morning, but I’m sure it’ll keep him happy. If he paid more attention though, he’d notice that it’s not gone unmentioned on here in the past - see:

I’ve nothing against MPs scrutinising Government. The PAC have very sensibly stepped back from the issue whilst the criminal investigation takes place, and I think all MPs should honour that. After it’s been completed, then by all means ask away!
