Having made a couple of awful jokes in the Commons Chamber today - such as “Leave the cheeky stuff to me” - Lembit Opik finished his stand-up routine preface to a PMQ saying “And let me tell the House that the other sister is still single” !!!
Anyone fancy the prospect of being Lembit’s brother-in-law? Anyone…?
And he followed that with a wonderful segue - “And moving on to Motor Neurone Disease…”

He did the same joke at Northern Ireland questions - as in PMQs and no-one laughed at either attempt. Then he followed this with his traditional “but seriously”.
Lembit, there is a reason that other Cheeky Girl is single. The reason is that she looks just like her identical twin. :-/

Has anyone considered that this otherwise quite conventional young man, (a parishioner of mine was at university with Lembit… oh what tales!) has possibly sacrificed himself and his happiness, with sunny Sian Lloyd, on the orders of Menzies.
Recently there have been not even newsworthy tales about drunks or sodomists from the Liberal party. With Mr. Opik’s efforts one might possibly forget that they were there.
