It doesn’t take a genius to spot the hypocrisy of the headline, and I’m not surprised that someone else made a similar post. I saw the Independent front page pictured on the bus into work today and made the connection. I don’t get the paper myself, and so didn’t spot that they’d been similarly hypocritical on Monday.
I’ve never read the Devil’s Kitchen blog, and didn’t take the idea from there. You can’t hat-tip what you don’t know exists - I would certainly have done so if I had been aware of it.
This example does raise a problem I’ve found within the blogging community. There is an expectation that if you are a blogger, you should read (or at least be aware of) everything that everyone else in your field is writing. I have not the time nor the inclination to read everything that people are writing about UK politics, however valid or well-written it may be. And if that means I occasionally and unwittingly make similar posts to other people, then I will have to live with that imperfection.
