Ferry in Nazi shock

Brian von Ferry

Anyone in any doubt that Brian Ferry is entirely nutso should read his comments today along the lines of “the Nazis weren’t all bad”.

Brian Ferry is a strong supporter of The Countryside Alliance and, evidently, the Nazi Party. It was in fact his son Otis who stormed parliament and - er - wagged his finger at a bemused environment minister in the Commons Chamber - to promote his human right to rip animals to shreds while alive.

I don’t know how it never occurred to me before that people who like torturing animals to death (for a laugh on a Sunday afternoon) would be natural Nazi sympathisers.

  1. Hate to be a pedant, but Hitler was believed to be a bit of an animal rights nutter. Ironically, the Nazis would probably have thought Ferry was too barbaric.

  2. he said that he thought their presentation skills where good. Of course they where. Are you a fool? Crikey they where the NuLabour of their day, they realised the power of cinema and other medias and exploited them. To correlate such a comment with support of the Nazis, is, completely awful journalism.

This is only the second time i have visited this blog, i think it will probably be the last.

  3. Yes probably Ferry was speaking about the propaganda, presentation and spin skills of the Nazi regime rather than their politics per se, but that really isn’t very clear and he is still a total twat for saying it. Having a haircut that is an awful lot like a slightly hippy Adolf’s doesn’t help much either. Like I said, twat.

  4. Reductio ad hitlerum - http://www.answers.com/main/ntquery?s=ad+hitlerum&gwp=13 - lazy, and childish, must try harder.

  5. Come now, Brian Ferry can’t help himself. He deluded himself into believing he was an aristocrat several years ago - naturally he also believes he should continue the fine traditions of the British upper classes: hunting, half-wit children and support for the Nazis

  6. Well Gaz, since your writing skills are so abysmal i don’t think you’ll be missed.

  7. what a prized tosser. Then turning it round to suggest he was talking about it from an ‘art history’ point of view!

  8. I totally agree with Gaz. Understanding practical strengths of a person or a movement does not equate with moral approval. I think that some of the Mecedes cars that were built in the Nazi era and so beloved by the party hierarchy are rather fab. I can’t say I enjoy Leni Riefenstahl’s work - but I surely can’t deny its power and the success she had in manipulating her intended audience.

I do think he was naive though - he should have not that the dumbed-down media doesn’t care for nuance or informed debate, just easy headlines. Burn the Nazi/Paedo etc etc - and don’t bother checking if he’s guilty.

  9. Brian Ferry might suprise us all all in retracting his comments and praising the Isrealite army on their admiral use of Palastinians as human sheilds. There hasn’t been that great a backlash for A PRESENT DAY ATROCITY.

  10. DN, what about the Palestinians blowing up women and children in pizza restaurants, is that ok by you then? I’ll bet you don’t give a toss about the genocide in Darfur either do you.

  11. The problem with this story is that it is quite possibly lost in translation. Given that this - http://www.welt.de/wams_print/article744996/Ich_waere_gern_ein_Amateur.html - was the original offending article, and was allowed to be published in a well respected German newspaper, and in a country which afterall has tough holocaust denial and pro-Nazi criminal laws, it seems quite clear to those that can read the article that he is quite clearly talking about art and culture.
