Questions to the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland finished early today, despite the fact MPs only get half an hour every month to question Peter Hain on the province.
When Philip Hollobone failed to turn up in the Chamber to ask the final question of the session, the Speaker was temporarily at a loss to know what to do, having a minute or two to kill before Prime Minister’s Questions was due to start. He decided it wasn’t worth adjourning the House, so PMQs started early, with MPs still finding their seats.
