“We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to withdraw from the European Union”, says a petition on the No.10 website. “It is of no benefit to the UK any longer. It is a gross waste of money and should not be funded by the taxpayer any longer. This unelected, bureaucratic bloc is simply infringing national sovereignty constantly and we must remove ourselves from the threat of Europe. We are slowly but surely losing our independence because of those two simple letters - EU.”
Solid UKIP territory obviously, but looking down the list of signatories I’ve spotted two elected Tory councillors - Keith Standring and Donald Hoyle - and there may well be more amongst the thousand plus names.

Well it certainly isn’t any good for actually getting the arrogant and unlistening Labour Govt to take any notice of the people who so foolishly elected them, now is it.
