Is WebCameon dead?

After faltering results in the local elections, CCHQ has dumped Sam Roake, the web-guru they poached from Google to much fanfare and is hiring a replacement.

Roake is the brains (and initially the cameraman) behind the webcameron experiment that saw “Dave” washing up, feeding his kids and doing all sorts of things that one of his servants would normally do when the cameras are not around. CCHQ is rumoured to be vexed that while nothing Dave has said in the months since webcameron has been running has beem remembered by anyone, the Sion Simon mantra “I’m Just Like You” has been made into a successful YouTube pop video.

I might apply for the job myself - if they’re desperate not to have a Tory as their candidate for Mayor, they may be trying to get rid of Tories elsewhere too.

  2. Recess come on, with the passing of the Bliar premiership spin and lies are supposed to be expunged from the Labour lexicon at ong last. So please stop trying to pretend that the local elections were anything other then a triumph for the Tories and an unmitigated disaster for Labour, the LibDems, the BNP and UKIP.

  4. oh come on. as if the website had anyhting to do with local election results. the man was a bad story waiting to emerge and it’s better to ahve him off the payroll when it does.

  5. How hard can that job be. I’ll just pirate a copy of the Interactive Web Creator software, put together a ‘Where’s Dave’ map, set him up a Myspace and Facebook account and BINGO! Big Dave can be a tosser on even more platforms!
