Tory Scumwatch

The Cameroonies at the Kings College London Conservative Society blog offer thoughtful condolences to the family of MP Piara Khabra, who died this week aged 82.

Which is a bit funny, because the first time I looked at their blog, the condolences were not there - and in their place was a message containing the term “Christmas come early”.<

Tory Scum

  1. The spirit of this post is much lower than the one it refers to, Arleen obviously wasn’t referring to Piara’s death with the Christmas comment, she was referring to the prospect of a Con Gain. Even if she wasn’t the thoroughly decent and kind person that she is, do you really think she would be daft enough to say something like that?

  2. continued!

She loves campaigning and there’s a by-election on her doorstep, good for her to be excited by the prospect. This episode, and I hope it doesn’t grow more than this, shows two of the worst aspects of blogging - the potential to blog quickly without stepping back and thinking how it could be misinterpreted (she quickly realised herself that she hadn’t expressed condolences and duly amended her post), and the tendency of bloggers to go for cheap shots and damage people’s reputations. Putting a picture of someone up, under a scum headline, is gutter politics. Arleen’s innocent post clearly wasn’t.

  3. Recesscunt…Labour were busy canvassing before Mr. Khabra was dead, see Iain Dale’s blog. You made up a story that Margaret Thatcher had died and took pleasure from it. You are a fucking hypocrite.

  4. Ditto to what Sam and Labourscum have said. Come on Alex you can do better.

  5. Although, unlike Margaret Thatcher, Piara didn’t screw millions of working people, take Britain to the nadir of boom and bust economics or attempt to bring British public services to their knees.

All in all, Piara was a far more admirable politician than Maggie, though I doubt he’ll get a statue.

I knew Piara, not well, but I did chat to him from time to time. I thought he was a kind man who took seriously his role as a public representative. And if Arleen Ouzounian can’t refrain from publishing her glee for a few days, then that is her concern. considering her Christmas comment, I found her offered condolences somewhat insincere.

  6. Public services were below their knees well before Margaret Thatcher came along to help them stand proud. She laid the groundwork that Blair has continued for his time in office - she must be particularly proud at how the NHS is gaining more freedom from state than ever before.

However, what shames most people is the gutter politics that you engage in. As comment number 3 pointed out, you announced Thatcher’s death and practically danced over her non-existent grave. You are a hypocrite indeed!

I hope it doesn’t take too long to wipe the egg from your face following news of Labour canvassing already.

  7. Mike, are you on the Tory HQ payroll these days? Can you be quoted as “Deluded Tory Spokesman said…”?

Can you perhaps find some public sector workers from 1980-1990 who can provide some endorsements of Maggie as the workers friend?

While you’re there, could you perhaps find some reference to me dancing on Maggie’s grave?

  8. If you’d read Arleen’s earlier post (http://theregalis.blogspot.com/2007/04/ealingforsaken-but-not-lost.html) on the state of Ealing’s parliamentary representation, you’d know just what she meant by the phrase. Addressing the issue of Khabra’s protracted illness, she showed the respect and compassion that one would expect from such a committed Christian as Arleen. The same is true of the passing away of other figures whom Arleen has respected and mourned, and whose deaths were marked on the blog.

This time, an unfortunate phrase - removed due to some early misinterpretation - has diverted attention from the fact that we, particularly Arleen, share in the grief through which Khabra’s family is going. Whether or not we agree with his politics, we all recognise Khabra’s great contributions to his country: having been the last MP to serve in the Second World War increases that sense of poignancy.

That Labour bloggers are concentrating their fire on Arleen for a single poorly-chosen and unintended phrase threatens to undermine the decorous respect and applause that he deserves. The fact that their first instinct is to attack a message of condolence for a single phrase suggests that perhaps Arleen is not the one being insincere. If you want to see someone playing down the sadness of the situation, I suggest that you look in a mirror.

  9. Sickbucket, pass, now.

God you’re a sanctimonious prick Mr Cooper. The girl’s an attack dog. She’s been cheap, mean and is obviously power hungry. Painting her to be a pious bible basher is laughable.

  10. ‘Message of condolence’??? Where were the condolences? So much for the Tory Party trying to shed its image as the nasty party.

  11. Only someone that doesn’t never met Arleen, nor read any word that she’s written besides this horrendously misquoted episode, could possibly say that she’s an “attack dog”. Whilst Arleen’s not a Bible-basher by any sense of the term, she is indeed pious in her convictions - and takes the sanctity of life as seriously as any other Christian.

Moreover, she is as warm and compassionate person as you could care to meet. This is proven by the fact that she then removed the comment when she considered the potential offence that could be derived from misinterpretation. Many other bloggers have suggested that she should have left it - and that would have been the response of the uncompassionate and uncaring. To portray her as an attack dog is laughable.

  12. Have you ever slept with a girl Oliver? And do you secretly lust for Arleen,… ***EDITED DUE TO BEING REALLY RATHER OFFENSIVE***

  13. Who the hell is Barry Allen and why are his utterings from the gutter? When it comes to obit decorum, the idea that Recess Chimp is in a position to pontificate is beyond parody.

  14. Praguetory to the rescue, ever the polite and kind individual. Go blow your dad.

  15. Can Barry’s utterances be deleted please?

  16. I am deeply, morally offended by the concept of a Christian Conservative. You can’t perpetuate evil and then think your soul will be clean because you go to church on a Sunday.

Fortunately, my own moral flaws prevent me from stoning Tories from parliament square.

  17. I love you, Recess.

‘Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good’ (Romans 12:17-21).

  18. Are you suggesting we feed Tories?

  19. I meant the bay doors of her heart! Christ, you lot have your mind in the gutter. If I had wanted to to be in the gutter I would have mentioned something about oliver wanting to [***AGAIN, EDITED FOR THE SAKE OF DECENCY***], or something like that.

  20. Barry Allen fuck off. If you don’t know arleen then you have no right to speak of her in such way. You are a disgrace to the human race if this is how you behave to people you don’t know and if life is all about sex for you then need a more fulfilling life t would seem. Whilst the church may have its flaws it has many benfits if you focus on the actions of Christ which showed God to be compassionate and caring unlike the jealous and vindictive god of the old testament as is shown by comment 17. In the mean time the bunch of you should leave Arleen alone for what was an unfortunate mistake. You’re not worried about the principles of it all it seems just a quick buck. For this Alex I hope you do get to appear on Newsnight - I’d love it for my perconceptions to proved wrong.

  21. Jesus, Mary and bloke who was supposedly not banging mary! Another sexually repressed, overthetop, preaching, obnoxious, virginial, bible bashing, and bigoted conservative! If you lot actually behaved like Christ and relaxed a bit, hanged around with a few whores (Mary Magadelen to those who haven’t read the Da Vinci Code) and vagrants you might not be so uptight. Perhaps you should at least shake hands with beef once in a while. It’s like whenever sex is brought up you start sweating like a blind lesbian in a fish shop!

  22. Can we try perhaps to refrain from insulting entire religions, genders etc?

  23. Or, hopefully, even individuals, but that may be beyond the wit of some people. I’m not a Christian or a conservative (or sexually-repressed, virginal, Bible-bashing, bigoted…), so goodness knows why ‘Barry’ is throwing those ‘accusations’ at me. Nonetheless, I can still see which party involved here has been indecent, and it’s not Arleen.

  24. I think Colin fancies Arleen but is too shy to tell her.

  25. I think Andy Strang should learn the lessons of posting rubbish.

  26. Entire religions, genders, but not political parties?

  27. The Labour Party is beyond a joke. If you were picking randomly, you’d end up with a more competent group of individuals than the flotsam sitting in its Cabinet. Mind you, judging by Gordon’s recent approaches to Paddy A and Lord Stephens that’s a view also shared by the leader you never voted for.

  28. Recess - it looks like your site is patrolled by CCO! Have they got nothing better to do than come to the rescue of nasty, thick young Tories? What she said was clear - the MP’s death was ‘Christmas come early’ for the Tories. How any of these people can defend that is beyond me. Looks like Labour’s 3 points lead is getting to them.

  29. A word of advice for all the Tories posting on here in defence of this person. If you want the public to move on from their perception that you are the nasty party, stop. Just stop. Right now.

  30. Getting nervous Recess? Lovely apology btw - pity it took so long. I still see the photo tho’ Get it off now. For the record I don’t fancy Arleen Andy and all her friends know this - stick to talking about something you know something about. I am just doing what anyone else would do for a friend.

“Looks like Labour’s 3 points lead is getting to them”

That would be Blair’s three point lead - oh look…he’s going on Wednesday.

Karl - think what you may of us. We are defending a friend who made a mistake in is sincerely sorry for that. We do not dance around at the thought of any person dying nor do we act in the dispicable manner of some of the above commentors. If I were you I’d read around this a bit more before defending RM

  31. Colin. Who do you think you are to order someone to “Get it off now”? Sorry for talking about something that I don’t know about. Why do all of her friends know that you don’t fancy her though? Have you told them all? How did the subject come up in conversation?

  32. Colin, denial is not just a river in Egypt.

  33. Did I apologise for something?

  34. When are you taking down your Benn4Deputy paraphernalia?

  35. Seems quite clear to me.Labour MP dies, Tory is delighted there will be a by election and hopefully the Tories will win it.So delighted in fact she feels like it’s christmas come early.Utterly appalling and beneath contempt, she should join the Lib Dems, aren’t they the ones who normally do this sort of thing?

  36. Oliver Cooper writes

If you’d read Arleen’s earlier post (http://theregalis.blogspot.com/2007/04/ealingforsaken-but-not-lost.html) on the state of Ealing’s parliamentary representation, you’d know just what she meant by the phrase. Addressing the issue of Khabra’s protracted illness, she showed the respect and compassion that one would expect from such a committed Christian as Arleen.”

oh Indeed Oliver, sadly for you I actually read the blog post showing her ‘compassion’, it went likes this

“Hopefully all the constituents will realise this neglect and return the favour by choosing to neglect Labour at the general election!”

Charming, and soooo compassionate and christian.Buy a clue numbnuts. It’s shocking…

  37. Well, let’s be honest, the person is question has now ‘updated’ her blog and doctored err updated the article. If there was nothing wrong with it originally why change it? Well done Recess for showing us the Nu Tories, much like the old nasty Tories really…

  38. hehe. aren’t the Tories a chivalrous lot coming to the defence of poor said lady.

  39. I’m a Tory and feel sorry for the girl but am not going to deny that she made a fool of herself with her obvious glee!

  40. Isn’t the cynicism of modern politics a comfort at such a distressing time? It’s nice to know that neither Labour nor Tory grassroots are above this ridiculous squabbling. RM pointed out Ms Ouzounian’s mistake: great, she’s now edited that entry. I’m sure she feels terrible enough about having used that turn of phrase without commenters making REALLY RATHER OFFENSIVE remarks about her or anyone else, let alone everybody here indulging in the kind of offensive, disingenuous opportunism of which she stands accused. I’m just hoping Mr Khabra’s family hasn’t had the misfortune of reading any of this. RIP.

PS in case anyone’s thinking it, I’m not desperate enough to be a Lib Dem, although I do like the idea of wearing sandals when half of England is underwater.

  41. “Colin. Who do you think you are to order someone to “Get it off now”?”

Someone who has emailed Alex twice now requesting politely that the photo of Arleen be taken down because Alex does not own the copyright of photo and is therefore in breach of copyright law.

Andy - yes she has made a fool of herself but she doesn’t deserve the treatment she has received.

T seems to hit the nail on the head and though a squabbler I do 100% concur.

Alex - I’d advise you to start responding to my emails btw

  42. Ahhh, restricting the debate, a typically cheap tactic to protect malicious people. How sad.

  43. Colin,

Have received no emails from you. try editor@recessmonkey.com or alexhilton@gmail.com or give me a ring 07985 384 859

Incidentally, I think it’s very rude of you indeed to declare to the world that you don’t fancy Arleen in this forum.

Don’t you think she has had enough to deal with this week, without your rejection added to her woes?

  44. We do not dance around at the thought of any person dying nor do we act in the dispicable manner of some of the above commentors.

And all those “hope the fat bastard dies” comments over at Gudio’s when he claimed Prescott’s recent hospitalisation was very serious, they were Lib Dems were they?

  45. Alex, thanks for that. I was using my yahoo mail a/c which hasn’t bounced back any of the mails which i sent nor could i request a read receipt. Now that this has died down a bit all I ask is that you remove Arleen’s picture and we can all put the rest behind us.

  46. Put the fact that she celebrated the death of a Labour MP behind us? I might actually go to Ealing Southall and hold up a picture of Arleen with the quote she made and see the reaction from the Tory scum.

  47. arleen feels bad enough as it is. she made a stupid thoughtless mistake but meant nothing evil by it. if any of you had met her you would know that she didnt mean it. she feels awful. just let it drop and find something contructive to do with your times rather than slagging off people who made a dumb mistake

to you sad lefty twats who sterotype tories as evil - i thought the left are supposed to stand for better principles than that? surely your just a bunch of hypercritical knobs by sterotyping. im going to point out now that im not sterotyping all lefties… just pointing out that some of them are closed minded twats.

  48. I’m shocked and appalled by the language and abuse against a young girl who happens to be one of the nicest people i’ve ever met. Implying that all the men that are defending arleen are doing it because they fancy her shows your ‘modern’ views on the relationships between men and women. Grow up.

  49. Nah, the fancy her! Those Sven type glasses don’t do her any favours, but i’d partake in a bit if that action if she wasn’t a tory.

  50. Alexandra, has Colin tried to put it on you yet?

  51. Colin either needs a quick lesson in copyright law or in avoiding conduct which could be construed as sexual harassment. Either “Fair Use” or “Fair Abuse” perhaps?

I’m personally delighted to have the opportunity to remind the world once more that I would love to join the long queue to dance on Maggie’s grave, but wouldn’t dirty my shoes.

Welcome to politics - drop a bollock and you’ll be deservedly lampooned. Or hated by millions, depending on the size of the aforesaid.

  52. Funnily enough Andy he hasn’t but then he was at my engagement party.

  53. Arleen phrased her blog in a way that allowed it to be misconstrued. I assure you there was no ill-intent there. I think you have looked far too much into what she has said, clearly from a biased standpoint. Arleen is merely excited by the prospect of a by-election. At no point does she openly revel in the death of another person - nor does she maliciously attack his person or legacy.

    Lets move on.

  54. If you want to move on, then stop writing comments, moron.

  55. […] an excuse for writing libellous material.  What a wonderful irony it is that a little while ago, you harrassed a Conservative university student for publishing an article online about the death of ….  Even though she subsequently realised her mistake and edited the original article, you still […]
