According to the BBC, he was arrested for allegedly assaulting his young wife and Bailed to return on October 1st.
I wonder if wife-assault is a deselection criterion in the Conservative Party? Didn’t Howard Flight get dumped for proposing tax cuts? Surely wife-assault is worse?

Wasn’t it a Hunt Master who said beating up a hunt saboteur was much the same as beating the wife - ‘a private matter’. It’s all part of what makes Briaian great.

It’s par for the course. See James Gray, MP for North Wiltshire, he left his wife while she was recovering from cancer for a Countryside Alliance worker (she was married too). Later he downplayed how serious her illness was. nice.
