According to the Times discussions are under way for a 2-3 year refit of the roof of the Palace of Westminster, which would involve MPs moving out of the Commons Chamber to a different venue - Central Hall, Country Hall, the QE2 centre all mentioned.
However historical scholars will know that the last time MPs decanted from the Commons Chamber following the Second World War, they moved into the House of Lords, and indeed many of Churchill’s great post-war orations were delivered in the Other Place. If the Lords Chamber is not similarly affected by the works, you would have to bet on MPs moving in again.
No mention though of any long term repairs to the roof above my office. Bah!
