One of the criticisms of the Government’s ‘Red Lines’ in the EU Treaty is that they could be overturned by the European Court of Justice - in as little as five years according to some sceptics.
Ignoring the rights and wrongs of the Treaty debate, why is any country willing to sign up to a treaty that can be altered by a third party at a later date? Could it not get the clean bill of health from the European Court before we sign it? Then at least we’d know if we were getting our precious opt-outs or not.
A rarity for me to indulge in serious political debate, I realise. Don’t worry, it won’t happen again.

Good idea, unfortunatly I think our [spin] masters are more concerned with appearances than legal certainties. If it really is an ‘opt out’ perhaps our own courts should decied?
