Afternoon, Officer

Maybe police officers aren't so upstanding after all
(Click for bigness)

Hampshire police thought it would be a good idea to advertise on the rear of a bus. Their planning did not take into account the position of the exhaust pipe. Maybe police officers aren’t so upstanding after all.

  1. Judging by some of the police officers around here, the exhaust ought be on the other side.

  2. Hampshire Police are clearly doing a good job. Emissions are down, and they’ve nearly caught the “Flashing Bobby”.

  3. Looks painful. Is that part of the initiation process in the Hampshire police?

  4. Classic.

  5. I think the boys and girls in blue should investigate how your post ended up here:

Do you think there might be a tea-leaf in the blogosphere?

  6. Hillarious… he does look ina bit of pain as well

I laughed for a good ten min after looking at this. Good show!

  7. I’m an artworker, I do this sort of stuff in my job almost daily. The artworker/s who did this would have know EXACTLY where the exhaust pipe was coming out as you get supplied with a template of the bus sides and rear with all non-printable areas showing. He He, someone has a sense of humour and is laughing their asses off in an agency somewhere - probably get a disciplinary but I’d take one too, it’d be well worth it.

  8. Red Tamarin, you had the good grace to own up to plagiarising this post from an e-mail over at Dale’s blog. I’ve written something up at:

    http://lobsterblogster.blogspot.com/2007/10/evenin-all.html

so I’m quite happy for you to exercise your right to reply. (I’ve commented something v. similar on Dale’s blog, but I doubt it will ever get through moderation.)

  9. […] may discover by following that link and running head-first into Lobster Blogster’s rantings, Recess Monkey) followed up a tip-off email to highlight Hampshire police’s latest ad […]

  10. I think the problem both Red Tamarin and Ian Dale has is that neither of them quotes their source. Something like “Hat Tip: Received from an anonymous emailer” would suffice.

  11. Click for bigness? I thought the idea was to rub.

  12. I can see your point LB + GR, and I’d admit I’m lazy on the etiquette front. The idea of hat-tipping ‘anon’ all the time would get a bit boring both to write and to read though. I’ll give it a bit of thought.

  13. […] on the tails of a post a couple of weeks back where you made a rather teenage-esque comment about the position of an exhaust pipe on a bus advertisement (very incisive analysis - no, really).  Just a week earlier, you had made a sick joke about Ming […]
