…being “Nadine”, naturally, of the Dorries variety.

Accompanied by a photo, which is the visual equivalent of saying, “some of my best friends are black”, Nadine Dorries MP has written a piece on her blog which Recess Monkey finds deeply distressing.
It is at this point that I would probably refer to Ms Dorries as “Mad Nad”, not - of course - because of her mental state, on which I am unqualified to comment - but because of her campaign for the return of back-street abortions by equally unqualified doctors. Fortunately, Nadine says on her blog, “As an MP, I don’t mind if people want to take a pop at me” - so she probably won’t sue me for that.
Sadly, Nadine doesn’t allow comments on her blog so I can’t respond to her on her own page, where she suggests this website is somehow state funded (I wish) and makes somewhat darker inferences about me. She doesn’t mention of course that her very-definitely state funded website is adorned with multiple pictures of her daughters, so presumably it’s ok for them to be used for PR purposes when needed.
Nadine, I thought this story had sunk into the depths of blog archivedom and here you are dredging it up for more publicity than I could ever achieve, not least by drawing the attention of Iain Dale.
So now I know you’re a reader Nadine, tell me again when you think it’s appropriate for privileged white girls to use the “N” word?

While it may or may not have been… wise… for Alex to run the story in the first place, you really do have to question the wisdom of an MP who makes matters worse by highlighting the story for all her readers to see (which in turn encourages other bloggers to do the same) and then loosley throws around thinly veiled accusations of paedophilia. she’s a nutcase.

Stocky, you make a good point, though I would argue (from the perspective of a mixed race man) that black people should be cautious about legitimising racist abuse.
Furthermore, why was she quoting? presumably because she thought it was funny. Still not good enough as far as I’m concerned, though surely if there’s a valid debate to be had, then there’s no harm in the original story?

Be interesting to see how she will be choosing to meet this fee. Given Ms Dorries’ abhorrence of taxpayer funds going to non-parliamentary activities, I trust that she will be paying Mr Smith’s invoice from her own pocket.
Her next Partliamentary Expenses breakdown will be read with great interest.

I agree wholeheartedly with Alex, a Chinese friend of mine will joke about his Chinese roots with me, yet he makes a point of not doing so in public, so as not to make others think it’s acceptable.
I think irresponsibility on Ms Dorries’ part is evident here, and she’s using it purely in a vain attempt to look cool.

This conundrum baffled the junior legal team here at Lobster Blogster. Fortunately we were able to consult with a higher authority, Mrs Justice Lobster. Her ruling is as follows:
The “N” word can be used without offence by some people, in certain contexts, but Miss Dorries is a bit silly to display it on her profile.
Recess Monkey is a bit naughty to draw attention to such a matter, merely to embarass Mrs Dorries.
Mrs Dorries action for libel will fail. The official ruling is “No case to answer”.
I would suggest that Mrs Dorries knows this too. Her modus operandi here is to create as much noise as possible, to put the frighteners on Recess Monkey. It looks like it’s worked! But at least you have the courage to keep blogging when the shit has hit the fan.

While not always a fan of Recess Monkey, I’m at a loss as to where this nonsense about “cyber-stalking a 15 year old girl” came from. Are you happy with the insinuation by Mad Nad that you’re a paedophile?
Presumably if Mad Nad’s 15 year old daughter were to become pregnant by this mystery paedophile, she would prefer that the abortion was carried out in a back alley with a rusty coathanger, rather than legally in a safe, sterile hospital environment.
Randy Orton said this on November 19th, 2007 at 6:56 pm

Now… that’s what we call serious political judgement!
Bob Piper said this on November 20th, 2007 at 9:25 am
Points to consider:
1. It was a cynical attack by Alex. Poorly judged and attack by association. He should know better.
2. A 20 something adult should know better than to put the “favourite quote” which uses “nigga” on a public website. There are security controls in place on Facebook that she could have prevented people other than her friends seeing her profile. She didn’t employ them.
4.Only idiots use the word “nigga” or “nigger” - irrespective of what race they are. Bigger idiots find it funny. Even bigger idiots say that of all the quotes they’ve heard, a quote involving that word, is the funniest. Even bigger idiots yet, will admit as much on one of the most popular websites in the world.
3. The ‘indignant mother’ post from Nadine was laughable bluster and demonstrated even poorer judgement (and a good deal of hypocrisy) by threatening lible action to someone while suggesting they may be a child predator. One would expect an MP to be a little more astute.
4. The UN said last Saturday, that man’s ability to live on this planet is being seriously undermined and we may be too late to save ourselves…shouldn’t politics be about focussing on, you know, THINGS THAT MATTER??!!??

The propaganda machine of Mad Nad has made this about a 15 year old daughter. The daughter in question is 22, she appears in numerous publicity photos for Nadine and the following quote comes from http://www.dorries.org.uk/Expenses.aspx:
“My daughter covered the staff holidays in London during the summer. I have her permission to state that for this she was paid the minimum wage.”
Therefore (if the same daughter), we are not just talking about a daughter, we are talking about a member of staff for the Office of Nadine Dorries.

I think the play in the political handbook of damage limitation is to concede and more on. There is no conceivable reason for you to highlight the Facebook page of one “white privileged girl” who offends your morals over another just because she is a daughter of a MP. Before you acknowledge this, any protestations will be seen as just pure chaff.
I think people are also mystified about how you came across the offending quote. Was it pure chance that you found a Facebook profile of Tory MP’s daughter among 43 million active sites?
