It seems Nick Clegg is the new leader of the Liberal Democrat Party.
Most amusing is the members’ general apathy, 8,000 fewer of them voting than did during Ming Campbell’s election not so long ago.
The elction proved much tighter than expected, with runaway favourite Nick Clegg’s lead eroded to just a few hundred ballots by the count. In fact, they are said to have had a recount.
Three matters remain:
1. With the election so close, how can Nick get his revenge on Huhne for the “Calamity” tag?
2. How long will Clegg stay in post before members realise that Vince “low-voltage” Cable is the shinier star?
3. Are Nick Clegg and David Cameron actually the same person?
