Boris sidelines campaign team

Dan Ritterband

What is it with Tories that they can’t stop talking about clothes? Pictured above is the well-dressed and flamboyant Tory fixer Dan Ritterband, discussing his sartorial habits with Vogue. it’s not entirely certain why the URL for the Vogue page includes the variable “girl=2″.

Lately, Ritterband has been the head honcho of the Boris Johnson campaign for the mayoralty of London. However, without warning or fanfare, Ritterband’s name has been removed from Johnson’s website, replaced with the name Ian Sanderson.

Could it be that Ritterband has been sacked for failing to make Johnson look like a credible Mayor? Seems to me that Boris ought to take some of the responsibility for that.

Jo Tanner, Katie Perrior and Boris - The Johnson - Johnson

I called the Boris campaign on 020 7202 7042, to speak to Dan, but I was told to email Dan. I asked, “Is Dan still running the campaign or is it Ian Sanderson now?” - to which the response was, “Dan’s still very much involved”.

“Yes”, i sad, “but is Dan still running the campaign or is it Ian Sanderson now?”

a pause…

“Just contact Dan and he’ll tell you what he is doing”

Seems strangely coy to me.

And it also seems they have pulled the Media Contacts page, which used to feature the numbers of the much-lauded PR team of Jo Tanner and Katie Perrior, neither of whom were answering their mobile phones when I tried them.

It seems there’s an earthquake happening in team Johnson, triggered no doubt by the arrival of Lynton Crosby. When Crosby joined the Johnsonites, The Evening Standard said, “Dan Ritterband, who some Tories felt lacked political experience and clout, remains as campaign director and will maintain overall control of strategy”.

Obviously not for long.

  1. err, why not try: http://www.backboris.com/news/media_contacts.php

v poor. cant stand boris, but get your facts straight as it undermines any credibility you may have….

  2. Maybe Mr Ritterband watched http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJZ9hTS42sE and realised how dreadful a Boris mayoralty would be.

  3. well dressed? for a tramp maybe

  4. Ah, so InHouse PR are doing Boris’ press stuff. They do the Conservative Peers’ press work too… erm…

  5. Sure, it’s not a story in any sense, but at least you’re trying again. Good work.

  6. I’ve learnt from raw experience that the heads or PR people from right-wing organisations often say things like “retain overall control” and “getting bigger and better” and “your job is safe” only to mean the opposite.

  7. Alex you really are a knob sometimes. Ian Sanderson is Boris’s election agent since he is the Tory Regional Campaign Director for London (i.e the top party agent for London). You know this perfectly well and are trying to invent a story from nothing in classic and tired NuLab fashion.

Oh and Boris is going to beat the vile, hypocritical and possibly corruptly dishonest (if he condoned what Jasper was up to) Livingstone.
